COMPANY NEWS & EVENTS
ECO3; THE ENERGY COMPANY OBLIGATION
What is the Energy Company Obligation (ECO)?
The Energy Company Obligation (ECO) is a Government-backed initiative to lower the UK's carbon footprint and increase energy efficiency measures in homes where improvement is needed. The initiative states that large energy suppliers – including British Gas, EDF Energy, Eon, Npower, Scottish Power and SSE – are obliged to help households with the ever increasing costs of fuelling their homes by fully or partially funding upgrades or replacements of any inefficient or malfunctioning boiler system, or addition of insulation measures such as cavity wall fills and loft space top-ups. The latest iteration of the scheme is focused on targeting energy efficiency measures in lower income and more vulnerable households, for more information on qualifying criteria please keep scrolling.

Each local council has its own specific guidelines regarding qualification, for the latest on each, or if you are unsure that you qualify, please see our 'Get In Touch' section below or call our helpful advisers on 01792 447740.
WHAT MEASURES ARE AVAILABLE TO MY HOME?
The available measures differ widely dependent on your property's size, construction type and fuel source. The primary focus of the initiative being to replace faulty or inefficient boiler systems and add (where available) an accompanying insulation measure to keep efficiency ratings as high as possible. This by no means rules out properties that currently have no central heating systems in place, funding would still be available in these cases to install a brand new system. Likewise, properties in need of an insulation measure (already having an efficient boiler fitted) would still have access to funding as a stand-alone measure. The level of funding available for each energy efficiency measure installed is based on a calculation of what the new measures could potentially save homeowners on their energy bills.
